A little while ago I posted about Australian designer Emily Van Der Lowden and this morning I woke up to the most lovely e-mail from her thanking me for my post and being a fan! I thought that was so sweet of her so thank you Emily!
Anyway, recently I've been starting to jot down ideas and do a few mood boards for a new project to get stuck into. Most of my ideas are always inspired by beautiful architecture and sculptures. Normally the kind of architecture you'd see in a French palace or an Italian church. Doing some research I stumbled upon brutalist architecture, even after minutes of looking through examples I had fallen in love!
To be honest I was really very surprised that I liked this type of building structure so much. It maybe conceived as boring and simple and plain, but I cant get enough of it. After looking at images of buildings like the OCBC Centre in Singapore and the Royal National Theatre in London I was hooked.
Here I've just posted some of my favourites.
Already these buildings are sparking so many ideas in my mind.
NB - these buildings are definitely best photographed in black and white.
